Easyslides stopped running – Win 10

Hi Folks, here’s an odd one. My Lenovo T440s Laptop running Windows 10 version 21H2 build 19044.2846 no longer allows Easyslides 5.1 to run! It ran fine yesterday before Microsoft updated Windows 10, but not today!
I deleted the Easyslides program, then downloaded and installed the latest Easyslides (several times) and the icon appears on the desktop (as it always did) and the program is listed in the program list (as it should!).
Clicking on the icon or on Easyslides in the program list no longer produces the running program – click on the icon again and the message comes up ‘Easyslides is already running…’
EasySlides is NOT listed in Task manager
Any ideas?
I have a second Lenovo T440s running Windows 10 version 21H2 build 19044.2130 – Easyslides 5.1 runs perfectly on that one.

Hi Steve,

Have a look in the backgroundprocesses of the taskmanager. I think you will find there the remnant of a running part of the program.
I can’t help your core question.

Thanks Bert, I gave it a few tries but all to no avail. I think I’m in for reinstalling Windows and starting again – technology is a mixed blessing!

Well, finally got it running again. I have two T440s machines, one worked with Easyslides, the other didn’t. So I removed the hard drive from the non-working machine, attached it with a USB/IDE adapter to the working machine and cloned the working machine’s hard drive. This gave me a (possibly uncorrupted) operating system and, of course, Easyslides was on the disk – but it still didn’t work! Deleted Easyslides from hard disc clone and installed Easyslides 5.2 Beta and, BINGO, a working Easyslides. What was the problem, blowed if I know, but 5.2 seems to have sorted it. Would it have done it without making a clone of the other disk? Who knows!
