Hello. Need to ask for help. After importing data from v4, I noticed in many of the songs imported, there will be a blank slide before the next marker (i.e. [Chorus] or [verse]), or the slide before the next marker there will be an extra spacing between lyrics from region 1 and 2. But the succeeding slides even before the other markers will be alright. Region 1 is Chinese, region 2 is English. I never encountered this problem in v4. Kindly advise. Thank you very much.

Your database probably contained extra lines but the slide was able to display them in v4. With v5 widescreen (instead of 3/4 ratio in v4) and the font size, the extra line spills into the next screen. Try reducing the default font size for the database (Menu->Manage->Databases) and see if it helps.

Thank you very much for replying, as i need to resolve this issue before this coming Lord’s day. But my lyrics does not fill or maximize the whole line. There are other lines that are longer, but it doesn’t spill. Strangely, a common factor of the songs that have this issue, it’s always the slide right before a marker (i.e. [chorus] or [1]), but not to all slides before other markers. Thank you so much again

After doing some tests, i noticed something. One of my layouts (i have 2, but haven’t tried the other yet after discovering this) is region 1 is Chinese w/ just 1 line of lyrics per slide, region 2 is English suppose to be able to fit 2 lines per slide. In v4 there’s no problem. But in v5 i noticed if w/in a section (i.e. verse or chorus or bridge) i have a slide that has 2 lines of English, the last slide of that section will have problems, as if the chinese lyrics of that last slide has 2 lines of lyrics. That explains why i would encounter extra line spacing between the chinese lyrics and the english lyrics only on the last slide of the section. The more slides w/in the section i have 2 lines of english lyrics, that’s the number of lines of chinese lyrics (it’s invisible) easyslides will ‘add’ to the last slide of the section. I tried tweaking the space allocation of the regions, the line spacing, it doesn’t solve the problem. Hope this observation can help. Thank you so much again.

Thanks for the explanation but I am still not clear on the cause. Could you send me a copy of your database(s) so that I can test it out? The database files are in EasyslidesData\Admin\Databases.

If possible, could you also send me a zipped copy of your original v4 easislides folder at C:\EasiSlides. You will have to use 7-zip as windows zip cannot zip CJK characters.

Send them to info@easyslides.com by email or dropbox.

Thank you so much for the reply and advice, will try to send w/in the day. I was able to do some more testing on my other layout, w/c made me realize a certain or seeming limitation in Easyslides 5 that is not present in Easislides 4. (Note first that what i mean with number of lines of lyrics is the number of carriage return character present in the slide. If for example a line of English lyrics is too long that it overflowed (wordwrapped) to the next line, this is still considered as 1 line of lyrics by Easyslides 5. But as we know, songs have moments of drag or silence for singers to breathe, where we would put the next lyrics on the next line to make it easy to trace and find.) The layout is that region 1 is English lyrics, should fit upto 3 lines of lyrics, and region 2 is Chinese lyrics, upto 2 lines. After browsing through the different songs i’ve made, i noticed that if each slide of a song has equal number of lines of English and Chinese lyrics (i.e. slide 1 has 2 lines of English lyrics and also 2 lines of Chinese lyrics, slide 2 has 1 line of English and also 1 line of Chinese, and so on), then there will be no problem. But if there will be a slide having different number of lines of lyrics (i.e. 2 line Chinese and 3 lines English), the last slide of that section where the slide w/ diff number of lines of lyrics will have problems (in the case of my example, Easyslides 5 will interpret that the last slide have additional line of Chinese lyrics, and so output an extra blank line space in between the English and Chinese lyrics of the last slide). The seeming limitation present in Easyslides 5 seems to be that each slide should have equal number of lines of lyrics. Thank you so much for bearing w/ my long messages. I’m sorry if my explanation is not clear enough. Emmanuel.
