Remote not advancing slides

I am running Easyslides 5.2 RC4. Advancing the slides from the keyboard works fine but despite trying the defalt, alternative and custom keyboards it will not accept instructions from my remote. The remote itself does not seem to be faulty as it works perfectly with Powerpoint. What do you suggest?
